Project Summary:
Developed by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Başaran and his research team, and patented in 2021, the Nitrification Inhibitor Fertilizer falls into the category of advanced technology fertilizers known in the sector as Slow-Release or Smart Fertilizers. Produced by Doğatech AR-GE A.Ş., a Techno-Entrepreneurship Company founded by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Başaran, this fertilizer possesses a special technology that reduces nitrogen losses from nitrogen fertilizers through leaching or gaseous means. In conventional fertilizers, nitrogen losses can reach up to 70% under certain conditions. The nitrification inhibitor temporarily eliminates the conditions causing nitrogen losses, allowing nitrogen that would otherwise be lost to groundwater or the atmosphere to be incorporated into agricultural production, contributing to increased yield and quality. In this fertilizer group, largely dominated by European fertilizer brands, this invention, which received the YÖK (Council of Higher Education) Outstanding Achievement Award, is a completely national technology that contributes to the national economy by competing with foreign technologies and preventing imports.
